Wine is a work of tradition that embodies a great deal of knowledge as well as a fair share of secrets. In order to produce top quality wines, a vast amount of personal experience is necessary above all with regard to the individual vineyards, their management and the vinification of their grapes into absolute top quality products. To preserve these secrets, the detailed knowledge of wine making is passed on from father to son very often by word of mouth alone.

Walter Skoff, the guardian of all the vineyards and the wine cellar, continues a forth Skoff generation tradition. Nevertheless, it was he who initiated an upswing in 1984 when he took on the care of 1,7 ha from his father.

After taking on the responsibility for the entire vineyard, Walter began to put his ideas about wine into action. The essential aspect of this was and still is his particular perspective towards wine; for Walter Skoff, wine is like a human friend with whom one needs to spend a great deal of time and to whom one needs to pay individual attention, especially concerning idiosyncratic characteristics. Every vintage, every single vineyard and finally every wine made represents an important and, above all, personal challenge to him.

Meanwhile, his son Joachim has joined the company as winemaker. He has gained extensive experience from renowned wineries in New Zealand, Chile and South Africa and is responsible for introducing innovative ideas.

So it isnīt amazing at all that the two winemakers have adopted the motto: "wine is life" our life is wine.
